HANA, the High-Definition Audio-Video Network Alliance, is the first cross-industry collaboration to address the end-to-end needs of connected, high definition, home entertainment products and services. What makes HANA unique is its list of founding members, which includes leading companies from the four industries most impacted by the HD revolution - Content Providers, Consumer Electronics, Service Providers and Information Technology - and their focus on the consumer experience.

HANA's goal is to create standards-based solutions to facilitate commercial deployment of connected products and services that will enhance the consumer High Definition entertainment experience. To achieve this, HANA will work with its member companies and organizations such as the Consumer Electronics Association, the 1394 Trade Association, CableLabs, the Motion Picture Association of America and others to ensure that its solutions meet the needs of all stakeholders, including consumers. Those needs include ensuring HANA products will stream high definition A/V content and related services simply and reliably throughout the home without compromising the rights of content owners or those of the consumer.

CEA-2027A standard describes the HANA protocol in detail and VividLogic has implemented this standard.

VividLogic develops HANA software for HDTV,STB,NIU (Network Interface Units)and for network/bridge devices. VividLogic developed a complete HANA stack based on CEA-2027B and contributed to the HANA specification, development and interoperability testing.

VividLogic also developed HANA simulators that can be used by HANA developers. VividLogic HANA Simulator is software that runs on a PC with IEEE 1394 interface enabling it to simulate a HANA Device such as an AV Disk, HDTV, STB or NIU. The Simulator is capable of working like a real device and can stream content from the PC to connected HANA devices.

VividLogic also developed HANA Bridge software that runs on bridges/dongles that carry IEEE 1394 Audio Video and control messages on co-axial cable in the home. The software facilitates room-to-room connectivity over the existing Co-axial cable. Hardware Dongles that convert and carry IEEE 1394 traffic onto co-axial cable have been developed by 3rd party companies such as Pulse Link and T-Zero.
